Hi. Was going to start at the beginning of my haphazard house renovations in the last eighteen months but I decided to do it round the wrong way.

So starting with the latest project which is my new oven. Here's a pictorial progression.

Started with a load of sand

modeling the special refractory concrete over sealed sand
Fabian looked after the dogs, made a nice pork roast and was helpful during his stay. He liked my truck too!
Five pieces 75mm thick each piece approximately 50kg
wedges to crack it open
this shows the firebricks being laid on two layers of insulating board (calsil board)
pieces joined together and supporting girdle in place

steel frame for underneath oven
two layers of 25mm furnace insulation

making last layer of concrete
granite arch to finish

In the shadow of my forefathers
thats it

now will make a base for it, maybe two bases- one for the garden and one to go on a trailer.

Yippee found the comment box. Love your new oven. What will you cook in it? You could feed the whole of Barabra. where was the glorious sunset?

Sunset was here last week. That's Mount Kaputar in the distance. It's the view I get from the Japanese bath on the verandah, although wasn't in the bath at the time.
I'll cook pizza, bread, roast dinners in the oven. I could fit a whole dog in it. I have a plethora of dogs here right now.
Thanks for the comment Big Sister.
